Measures of the UAS Grisons

State: 15.10.2021

The Federal Council's extension of the Covid certificate requirement also has implications for universities. According to the Federal Decree, they can from now on "prescribe a certificate requirement for study at Bachelor's and Master's level and in this case waive the masking requirement and the restriction of enrolment to two-thirds".

The UAS Grisons will introduce compulsory certification for all students and university staff at the Chur, Bern and Zurich campuses from 18 October 2021. This allows for the waiver of the mask requirement and distance regulations. Due to the small class sizes, only continuing education students will be exempt from this – in this case, however, the mask requirement and the distance regulations will continue to apply. Masks are still compulsory in the corridors of the UAS Grisons.

What does this mean for me as an interested person?

With the introduction of compulsory certification as of 18 October 2021, the UAS Grisons will be able to return to the face-to-face teaching that students have been longing for.Don't hesitate and apply for a degree programme at the UAS Grisons today!

  • If you would like advice on a specific study programme, you will find our contact persons on our study programme pages.
  • You also have the possibility to order information about our study programmes.

What does this mean for me as a student?

  • Contact tracing is ensured by means of badging at the entrance doors and via Moodle for the lessons.
  • Until 15 October 2021, teaching in the Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes will take place in hybrid-alternative mode. This means that the students are divided into two groups, which are alternately on site every week. If a class size in a module allows it, it is also possible to switch to face-to-face teaching. The timetable is maintained and remains binding.
  • From 18 October 2021, certificates will be compulsory for Bachelor's and consecutive Master's programmes. Students must have either a valid Covid 19 certificate or a negative test result. In the canton of Grisons, negative results from company tests are considered as valid certificates. Therefore, anyone who does not have a Covid 19 certificate that is valid in Switzerland can take part in the free company tests at the UAS Grisons. The negative test certificate must be submitted by email to notfall@fhgr.ch by 5 p.m. prior to the lecture day.
  • The Covid 19 certificates are recorded centrally and checked by the lecturers at the beginning of the courses.
  • The further education courses will start the semester with face-to-face teaching and can be continued without a certificate from 18 October onwards due to the size of the classes.
  • For any questions concerning the study program, the directors of studies and study assistants are available. In the second instance you can contact the Prorectorate.
  • Pick-up and drop-off stations are available at all sites in Chur, where you can register via a QR code. In Rapperswil company testing is not available due to cantonal regulations, but in Zurich and Bern, it is also possible to take part in testing.  In addition to the bring stations in the buildings of the UAS Grisons, the samples can also be handed in at the collection points of the canton. The company test is valid for 72 hours.
  • The canteen at Site A is open Monday – Friday from 08:00 – 14:00. The one at Site E is available on the same days from 11:00 – 14:00. From 18 October, proof of a valid certificate applies to all.
  • For events a certificate obligation applies as of September 13.
  • A varied range of sports is possible again. The respective protection concepts of the organisers apply. Details can be found on the website.
  • The exchange programme is going ahead in the academic year 2021/2022, however there are certain restrictions to be considered, depending on the regulations of the host institution and the host country. Contact the international office for more information: international@fhgr.ch

The following protection concept guidelines apply:

  • With the compulsory certificate, the wearing of protective masks and the observance of distance rules can be waived in the classrooms from 18 October. The obligation to wear protective masks and the distance rules outside the classrooms, for example in the corridors, will continue to apply. All students are responsible for their own protective masks.
  • Measures in the buildings of the UAS Grisons ensure contact tracing. External persons must be registered with an administration to ensure contact tracing.

The Regulations for study and examination operations in special and extraordinary situations has been extended for the autumn semester 2021.

What does this mean for me as a job applicant?

The application procedures at the UAS Grisons will continue as normal. The first interview takes place via video conference. If you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources Department: personal@fhgr.ch

What does this mean for me as a lecturer or employee?

  • Masks are compulsory in the corridors of the UAS Grisons. With the certificate obligation, the wearing of protective masks as well as the observance of distance rules can be waived in the classrooms from 18 October. The wearing of masks can also be dispensed with in the offices and in internal meetings if all those present have a valid certificate. Contact tracing is ensured by means of badging at the entrance doors and via Moodle for the teaching units.
  • The home office recommendation is extended to 15 October 2021. The details are to be agreed with the superior. For teaching, on the other hand, attendance is compulsory for lecturers. Exceptions can only be made for persons at particular risk according to the FOPH, with proof of a medical certificate.
  • The voluntary company testing is available to all employees and lecturers. Pick-up and drop-off stations are available at all sites in Chur, where you can register via a QR code. In Rapperswil company testing is not available due to cantonal regulations, but in Zurich and Bern, it is also possible to take part in testing
  • In the canton of Grisons, negative results from the free company tests are equivalent to a Covid certificate. It is important that the validity of these results of 72 hours is observed. The negative test evidence must be sent in by e-mail to notfall@fhgr.ch so that it can be deposited in the system. The synchronisation of the data takes place overnight, which is why the proof must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the day before attendance.
  • The UAS Grisons will centrally record the validity of the certificates and, in the case of lecturers, check it by the head of studies and, in the case of employees, by the head of the institute or department.
  • For events and workshops at the UAS Grisons a certificate obligation applies.
  • For excursions within Switzerland and to Liechtenstein, information must still be sent to notfall@fhgr.ch. Excursions abroad must be applied for to the Prorector. Business trips within Switzerland and to countries without quarantine requirements are possible again. When returning from abroad, a negative test result or a 3G certificate (Vaccinated, Convalescent, Tested) must be presented.
  • The canteen at Site A is open Monday – Friday from 08:00 – 14:00. The one at Site E is available on the same days from 11:00 – 14:00. From 18 October, proof of a valid certificate applies to all.
  • A varied range of sports is possible again. The respective protection concepts of the organisers apply. Details can be found on the website.

The following protection concept guidelines apply:

  • Masks are compulsory in all corridors of the UAS Grisons.
  • All lecturers and employees are responsible for their own protective masks.
  • Measures in the buildings of the UAS Grisons ensure contact tracing.
  • External persons must be registered with an administration to ensure contact tracing
