The Universities of Applied Sciences are tasked by the federal government with ensuring genuine gender equality between men and women as well as equal opportunities (Art. 30 of the Federal Act on Funding and Coordination of the Swiss Higher Education Sector (HEdA)).
The Diversity and Equal Opportunities specialist unit of University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons fulfils the task of supporting the executive bodies and affiliates of the University of Applied Sciences – University Executive Board, specialist areas, institutes, administration and lecturers – in fulfilling this duty.
The Diversity Policy forms the foundation of the diversity work performed at University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons. The Diversity specialist unit supports the diversity implementation process at the University of Applied Sciences.
Together with the member institutions of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (FHO) and the Institute for Gender and Diversity (IGD-FHO), University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is responsible for the implementation of the FHO action plan 'Equal opportunities 2017-2020'.
The Diversity specialist unit is a partner of the Institute for Gender and Diversity of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (FHO). The institute supports educational institutions, companies and the public sector with advice and specific offers in the areas of gender and diversity. It initiates and oversees research projects in these fields and offers support in incorporating these aspects within the research plans of various specialist disciplines. The Institute for Gender and Diversity IGD-FHO also links all activities of the FHO member institutions in the area of equal opportunities.
