Alex Gertschen (born in 1979) works as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, the University of Bern, and the University of St.Gallen on corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, and international political economy. He has a special interest and expertise in tourism and Latin America.
Alex Gertschen studied history, economics, and media and communication sciences at the University of Fribourg, the 'Sorbonne' in Paris, and the Humboldt-University in Berlin. He received his PhD in economic history from the Philipps-University Marburg by researching the internationalisation of West Germany’s textile industry (1949-1979).
Apart from his academic career, Alex Gertschen has pursued activities in the fields of journalism and corporate communication. For instance, he worked as correspondent of the Swiss daily 'Neue Zürcher Zeitung' in Mexico City (2007-2011) and as head of the research section of the Swiss B2B weekly 'HTR Hotel Revue'.
Alex Gertschen is married and a father of three. He lives with his family in Bern.
