Prof. Dr. Heiko Rölke is the head of the new Center for Data Analysis, Visualization, and Simulation (DAViS), since May 2019. He holds a professorship for computational and data science at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons. He joined the university in April 2017 as a lecturer for data science. His main topics are the modelling and analysis of complex, data-intensive, distributed, and concurrent systems.
Heiko received his doctorate in computer science at the University of Hamburg. Before joining the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons he worked for 10 years at the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) in Frankfurt, as the head of the Center for Technology-based Assessment. There he led numerous national and international assessment projects like the OECD studies PISA and PIAAC.
Heiko’s areas of expertise and experience are the modelling and analysis of complex and distributed systems. His main research interest is Process Mining, the analysis of log data. Besides, he uses other means of machine learning, especially in application domains like regional planning, life science, industry, and so on.
