FN ISI Export Format VR 1.0 PT J TI Visitor management at touristic hotspots in alpine areas AF Koller, Laura AU Koller, L AB The iconic mountain guesthouse Aescher became well-known within only a short period of time due to social media and other media coverages. The result was a massive boost in the number of visitors from all over the world to a place that was previously known mainly by locals from the surrounding municipalities. This thesis provides recommendations to manage and better spread visitor flow both spatially and temporally in order to avoid a high concentration and thus, to diminish the negative effects of high use levels. Furthermore, it describes the attitude of the host community as both residents of the area and visitors of the guesthouse and suggestions on how to engage them. The latter is evaluated based on the results of a survey among locals. Additionally, possible visitor control measures and influencing factors on visitor behaviour are assessed and further analysed based on interviews conducted with managers of touristic hotspots and with an expert in the field of consumer behaviour.
