AF Fuchs, Lea AU Fuchs, L AB In the face of increasingly urgent climate change, this bachelor's thesis discusses the trade-off between individualistic freedom and the protection of collective goods, the commons. Should consumer society with its materialistic individualism take precedence over human rights-based barriers to freedom? Using the example of flying, it is discussed under which conditions it can or even must be restricted, in order to protect fundamental aspects of life of present and future generations. Only by limiting current consumer freedoms can the human rights concept be protected in the long term. ER
