The increasing volume of literature on the impact of climate on tourism demand is due to the recognition that a more precise modelling of tourism demand must include weather and climate, since they are significant influences on the tourism industry. This study adopts an explanatory research design to explore the effect of climate change on tourism development in Badagry area of Lagos State of Nigeria. The main findings of the social survey revealed that 35 % of the respondents strongly agree and 63 % agree that ‘the rise in the sea level is a threat to the resort’. Also, 28 % strongly agree and 70 % agreed that ‘the unstable weather conditions are a threat to the activities of the resort’. This study provides new insights on the climate change debate in Nigeria and its continuous impact on human life.
