TY - THES AU - Golay, Diane T1 - User-Centered redesign of the Biotechgate portal T4 - A remote usability testing case study DA - 2014 CY - Chur PB - Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft HTW Chur A3 - Bekavac, Bernard AB - This thesis is dedicated to the user-centered redesign of the subscriber section of Biotechgate, a global life sciences business development database. The redesign project fits into a global restructuration and redesign process initiated to divide the one current website of the database into one public website and one subscribers-only section in order to improve its global usability. The objective of the current thesis is to elaborate a new, usability-optimized concept for the core features of Biotechgate subscriber section in the form of an interactive prototype, applying the principles, methods and best practice of user-centered design. The design development process is structured into four phases: user needs assessment, requirements definition, prototype development and usability evaluation. Usability evaluation is conducted in the form of remote moderated and automated usability tests with an international panel of Biotechgate (potential) end-users. In addition, the prototyping process is combined with agile (remote) usability testing. The result of this thesis is an interactive prototype including the core components of the new Biotechgate subscriber section and a set of recommendations for further design optimization.
