FN ISI Export Format VR 1.0 PT J TI A comparative study of SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production” and its implementation in the tourism industry in Stuttgart (G), Zurich (S) and Vienna (A) AF Sommer, Pia AU Sommer, P AB In 2015, the UN announced the ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ with the 17 SDGs – a set of goals for a better and more sustainable future globally, which are to be achieved until 2030. In 2021, after six years since introduction of the SDGs and more than a third of the available timespan elapsed, the coun-tries are far away from achieving all the goals within the remaining nine years. Although the Covid-19 pandemic led to a near stand-still of the world’s economy, even before the outbreak the countries were not on track with pursuing the goals and have not been fast enough in achieving them. The purpose of this research paper is to study the public’s knowledge and awareness of sustainability in general, in the tourism industry and of the SDGs. The emphasis hereby is on a cross-national comparison of the German-speaking countries Germany, Switzerland and Austria regarding the progress of achieving SDG 12. ER
