FN ISI Export Format VR 1.0 PT J TI Evaluation of User Satisfaction in Enterprise Search AF Hofer, Nathanael AU Hofer, N AB Enterprise search is facing many challenges: Largely missing interlinkage, poorly incentivized metadata strategies and bad content quality make it hard to find authoritative needles in the user-generated haystack. Changes in user satisfaction should thus be closely monitored when tweaking an enterprise search application. This Master’s thesis presents research towards a model for task-based evaluation built around cross-session log monitoring. Exploratory content analysis of query and click logs revealed the effectiveness and popularity of available search features. Query classification was used to identify popular user intents. Among other solutions to increase employee satisfaction with enterprise search interaction, continuous log file monitoring is suggested to highlight discrepancies between effectiveness and popularity of search features in the context of prominent work and seeking tasks for use in training sessions and educational materials.
