Besides the traditional offer, one product of this new concept is the Economy Light fare. The main point of this offer is that passengers using this fare are allowed to bring only one carry-on luggage piece into the aircraft. Other attributes such as for example checked baggage or a seat reservation are not included in the price but they could be added for a surcharge in case they are needed. Due to the abandonment of these attributes, the airfare in return became cheaper for the passengers. This Bachelor Thesis examines whether flights carried out by SWISS could rise their relevance among students at Swiss universities thanks to this new Light fare and if, therefore, the airline is being considered more often by this segment. Additionally, it is being shown whether people of the target group are willing to pay a higher price to fly with SWISS using the Light fare instead of with a cheaper low cost carrier due to personal preferences.
