The value added and the new flows of money created by the events are particularly important for the economy of the hosting destination. Therefore, event organizers increasingly have to demonstrate the economic merit of an event with an appropriate economic impact analysis. Based on thorough literature research, this bachelor thesis highlights the potential positive and negative effects of events, the general theory of a regional economic impact analysis and the most common methods to conduct an economic impact analysis. Most importantly, this bachelor thesis shows a practical approach to a regional economic impact analysis based on the example of the Zermatt Unplugged Festival. The main objective was to uncover the value added that the festival generated for the tourism destination Zermatt. In order to generate these results, a quantitative survey was conducted with 350 festival visitors and the finances of the Zermatt Unplugged association were analysed.
