Andrea Weber-Hansen studied Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich and completed her doctorate at ETH in the field of Management, Technology, and Economics. She completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Secondary and Higher Education. After working at CIBA Basel and the Institute for Automated Production at ETH Zurich, she became a lecturer at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in 2004. In 2009, she was appointed Vice Director of the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture. From 2017 to 2026, she headed the research department at the School of Engineering and Architecture. As a member of the executive board, Andrea Weber-Hansen shaped the strategic direction of the School of Engineering and Architecture and managed the research division both strategically and operationally. Her own research work is rooted in the textile sector. She is the head of the Competence Center Products & Textiles at the School of Art and Design and serves as project leader for several Innosuisse projects involving industry partners from the textile, product, and machinery sectors, as well as research partners (ETH, EMPA, and various universities). She is a member of Swiss Engineering and Swiss Textiles, and serves as a jury member for various innovation awards.
