Jan Mosedale (ITF) now leads the Tourism Subgroup of Action Group 2 "Economic Development" within EUSALP, the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region, which connects seven countries and 48 regions. The group strengthens key Alpine economic sectors and SMEs, with innovative sustainable tourism as a main topic.
In its Work Plan 2026-2028, Action Group 2 has made sustainable tourism one of five priorities, with a focus on resource management linked to major sports events. FHGR is named as coordinator of this priority. The Tourism Subgroup takes it forward through three main activities:
- Task Force and expert network on sport and tourism: a structured Alpine network of professionals from tourism and event organisation.
- Overview of tourism issues in the Alpine Space: an analytical report on the key challenges facing Alpine destinations, such as climate change, seasonality, mobility and digital transformation.
The overview builds on a project with FHGR students that identifies the most pressing tourism issues across the Alpine regions. Its results will shape the future priorities of the subgroup, particularly with a view to the next Interreg Alpine Space programme period from 2028.
