On September 1, 2018, Christian Baumgartner began his position as a lecturer at the Institute for Tourism and Leisure (ITF).
Prof. Dr. Christian Baumgartner studied landscape ecology and is the founder and CEO of Response & Ability (www.responseandability.com). Christian Baumgartner conducts research, publishes, and implements projects focused on the development and transformation of sustainable tourism as well as sustainable regional development, and has led specific tourism development projects in the Alps, Europe, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. His focus is on certification systems and monitoring. He is a member of various advisory boards, including KONA, the European eco-label for lodging establishments; Ibex FairStay in Switzerland; Futouris; and the “anders Reisen” forum, as well as an auditor for the TourCert sustainability certification and the Austrian eco-label for travel destinations. He has published books on sustainability assessment in tourism.
Christian Baumgartner is a member of the European Commission’s “Tourism for Tomorrow” expert group, as well as a member of national and international advisory boards for sustainable tourism. He has taught at several universities in Europe and Asia.
