Studies

Photonics

Gion-Pol Catregn grew up in Silvaplana and completed his apprenticeship as a car mechanic in 1991. After the recruiting school he moved to Chur to work for the Senn garage until 2002. During this time he trained as an automotive diagnostician where he developed a strong interest in electronics.

This was followed by the technical professional Matura at the HTA Chur, and then the study of process and systems engineering with a specialization in automation at the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden. In the last semester of his studies, he switched to CEDES AG, where he was employed as a hardware and software developer and as a project manager for various optical sensors up to TimeOfFlight cameras until 2010.

In 2010 he completed his MAS in microelectronics and moved to Espros Photonics Corporation in Sargans, where he was responsible for the characterization of photonics semiconductors (CCD and TOF) as well as the development of various evaluation kits.

Gion-Pol Catregn is married and has twins. He spends his free time with his family, on his bike, as a football coach and as an amateur actor.
