Vacation and Working Hours

Vacation
Our employees are entitled to the following annual vacation time:

  • 30 working days up to age 50
  • up to age 60: 32.5 working days
  • 35 working days from age 60 onward

Working Hours
We support work-life balance through flexible work schedules and part-time positions. The workweek for full-time employees is 43 hours. Remote work is an option, provided it is compatible with the job.

Human Resources Development

We actively promote training and continuing education, provide targeted professional development for our employees, and facilitate career planning tailored to different life stages. We offer attractive programs to support continuing education, such as master’s and doctoral studies. Faculty and research staff also benefit from three weeks of personal professional development per year, as well as the opportunity to undertake a paid professional development project.

The University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden is a member of HEM-Suisse (Higher Education Management). The association is committed to fostering a shared understanding of leadership and management at universities of applied sciences (FH) and colleges of education (PH). Senior staff members can attend continuing education courses offered by HEM-Suisse.

Family and Career

We support parents with flexible and family-friendly employment terms, work schedule options, and additional benefits.

Maternity Leave and Compensation for the Other Parent
We provide 16 weeks of paid maternity leave. During this time, 100 percent of the salary is paid. The other new parent is entitled to 13 days of paid leave following the birth.

Special Social Allowances
Our employees receive a special social allowance if they are responsible for children for whom family allowances are paid. For full-time employment, this amounts to CHF 220 per month per family. The special social allowance is paid in addition to the child or education allowance.

Contribution to Third-Party Childcare Costs
We provide financial support to our employees for external child care and cover up to one-third of the associated costs.

Sports and Health

As part of our Workplace Health Management program, we provide health-promoting initiatives to support and promote the long-term health of our employees.Among other things, we offer the following programs:

Sports Program
The University Sports Program offers all employees a wide range of opportunities for physical activity—whether during lunch breaks or after work.

Counseling Services
Employees have access to a free, external counseling service provided by Movis.

Events and Organizations

We value respectful relationships. We cultivate these relationships in particular through our annual events, such as the summer event, the employee gathering, and the New Year’s or end-of-semester receptions. Interested in music or literature? The book club, the film club, and the FH Graubünden Choir welcome new participants. At the lunch seminar, colleagues present the latest research findings, and you can improve your foreign language skills in the English Conversation Class or the Romansh course. And after retirement, the Alumni Association warmly welcomes everyone.

We place great value on a corporate culture based on trust and respect. Misconduct in the workplace or within the institution should be identified and reported to an independent whistleblowing office.

Insurance

Occupational Pension Plan
As an independent public-law institution of the Canton of Graubünden, we are affiliated with the Graubünden Pension Fund. This fund offers various savings plan options tailored to the needs of our employees.

Continued Pay in Case of Illness or Accident
In the event of illness or accident, our employees are entitled to 100 percent continued pay for up to 24 months. In the event of an accident, employees working 8 or more hours per week are covered worldwide for private hospital care.
