Insights into Research

The publication “Insights into Research,” which appears annually, provides an overview of the research activities at the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden.

May 2026 Issue

Research at the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden is characterized by its application-oriented approach, regional roots, and national networking. It emerges where scientific questions meet concrete challenges from business and society. Solutions are developed in collaboration with partners. Research at universities rarely happens in isolation: it develops through dialogue between disciplines, institutions, regions, and people. Networks are not merely supportive structures but a central component of the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden’s approach to research.

The current publication “Insights into Research” highlights this interconnectedness. It illustrates how research projects at the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden take shape: in an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented manner and through close collaboration with external partners. The articles illustrate that innovation arises where different perspectives converge and knowledge is jointly developed.

For the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden, this means understanding its role not only as a producer of knowledge but also as an active hub within regional, national, and international networks. The university of applied sciences consciously embraces this role: it combines scientific expertise with the needs of business, society, and the public sector, thereby creating spaces where new ideas emerge that can be further developed collaboratively. This makes it possible not only to generate research results but also to apply them in a targeted manner, thereby creating concrete benefits for society and the economy. Especially in times of increasing complexity, innovative solutions can rarely be developed by individual actors alone. It is only through the interplay of different perspectives that the diversity of ideas emerges which makes research effective and relevant. As a university with strong regional roots, the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden thus contributes directly to the development of Graubünden as a region and beyond.

The articles in this publication provide insight into the networks utilized by the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden. They demonstrate how collaborations enrich research, how interdisciplinary cooperation gives rise to new questions, and how partnerships with practitioners help translate findings into concrete applications. At the same time, they make it clear that successful networks do not arise by chance: such networks are based on openness, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to developing and sharing knowledge responsibly.

Thus, this publication is intended not only as a documentation of individual research projects but also as an invitation an invitation to view research as a collaborative endeavor and to nurture and further expand networks as a central resource. For it is where people, ideas, and institutions are connected that space for innovation emerges.

We cordially invite you to explore the diversity of research activities at the University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden and to discover the importance of networks for future-oriented university research.
