Albert Weichselbraun is a Professor of Information Science at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons (FH Graubünden). He received his PhD in 2004 from the Institute for Information Business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and subsequently worked as a research fellow at the University of Western Australia, where he was tasked with developing the webLyzard platform. From 2005 to 2011, he served as a research assistant and later as an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Processing and Process Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where he completed his habilitation in 2010.

Prof. Weichselbraun is also Chief Scientist and co-founder of webLyzard technology gmbh, a commercial spin-off focused on web intelligence and data analytics. In this role, he is involved in national and European research projects that build on the webLyzard platform.

At the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons Albert Weichselbraun leads the Data Science research field, which carries out applied research projects such as the Swiss Media Criticism project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and the Job-Cockpit, CareerCoach, and SYMBOL projects supported by Innosuisse. These projects apply and further develop cutting-edge AI technologies.

His research interests focus on:

  • Data and knowledge engineering
  • Big data, text mining, and natural language processing
  • Artificial intelligence (deep learning, large language models, and neuro-symbolic AI)
  • The deployment and optimization of these technologies for commercial applications, products, and processes
