With an academic career spanning more than 30 years, she has established herself as a thought leader in the field of service innovation and has contributed significantly to the development of new methodologies for innovation. The early combination of science and practice continues to shape her challenging approach to service development today.
Her journey began with a degree in computer science at the renowned Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, which she completed in 1995 with a degree in computer science engineering, specialising in information systems and hardware. While pursuing her doctorate, which she successfully completed in 2000 with the title Dr. sc. techn., she combined research and teaching at the Institute for Information Systems at ETH Zurich.
As a consultant and manager at companies such as Cambridge Technology Partners in Munich and VeBS (Virtual Enterprise Business Services) AG in Zug and Augsburg, she provided innovative impetus before moving to the University of Augsburg in 2003. There, she headed the Interorganisational Systems working group and developed approaches for service innovations. At the same time, as an assistant professor at Delft University of Technology from 2005 to 2009, she challenged traditional software engineering concepts and pushed the boundaries of digital transformation.
Since 2010, Antonia Albani has been working at the University of St. Gallen, where she was appointed assistant professor of business administration with a special focus on business informatics. In her role as head of the Service Innovation and Engineering department, she has carried out numerous research and practical projects. Her tireless search for innovative solutions led her to become the administrative director of the Master's in Business Innovation in 2015 – a programme that embodies her belief in not only accepting change, but actively driving it forward. In addition, she is involved in various mandates, such as at Hydro4Earth AG, miaEngiadina Marketing AG and the Tourism Council of the Canton of Graubünden, where her critical thinking and innovative ideas are in high demand.
