As Dean of the Department of Applied Future Technologies at the UAS Grisons, Armando Schär is responsible for four research institutes, twelve Bachelor's and Master's programmes with around 950 students, roughly 100 continuing education participants, and a team of 115 staff.
The department's focus lies on key future technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, media production and sensor technology, with AI as a cross-cutting theme linking technical and business disciplines.
Armando Schär is further Deputy Rector and a member of the University Board. Previously, he held the role of Vice President and Deputy Head of the Swiss Institute of Information Science at the UAS Grisons, and led research projects on the topic of digital business. He served as director of studies for the Digital Business Management Bachelor's programme from 2015 to 2024, and has been Deputy Rector since 2024 and Dean of the Department of Applied Future Technologies since 2026.
Armando Schär holds a doctorate from the University of St.Gallen, where he also obtained a Master's degree in Information, Media and Technology Management and a degree in Business Education.
