On 1 July 2020, Lena Pescia took up her position as Lecturer in Tourism Management at the Institute for Tourism and Leisure (ITF). Since 1 January 2024, she has also been Deputy Head of ITF and Deputy Head of Research & Development ITF.

Lena Pescia completed her tourism, event and hospitality management studies at the International School of Management in Dortmund (DE) before gaining an M.A. in Tourism and Urban Culture at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham (UK) at the end of 2007.

After completing her Master's degree, she initially worked for a tourism and management consultancy in Graubünden. In 2010, she moved to Market Development at Graubünden Ferien, where she was responsible for the marketing and sales activities of several European markets until 2015. 

With the aim of bringing the two specialist areas of "inclusion" and "tourism" closer together and deepening them further, she took up a position as a doctoral student and research assistant at the Centre for Disability and Integration at the University of St. Gallen and completed her doctorate in 2019 with her dissertation on the topic of "Inclusion of employees with disabilities in the Swiss hotel industry".
